"This Parent Portal represents the single most important step forward in the school's relationship with parents for a generation. It is a genuine use of innovative technology to deliver a simple yet powerful result: children do better and families are fully equipped to help them. The effects have been nothing short of transformational"
Simon Uttley, Headteacher
On the first day of bringing the Parent Portal into action, 170 of 180 parents in the year group used it.
“The St Paul’s Parent Portal is fantastic. It’s one of those things you suddenly get as a parent and you can’t imagine how you lived without it. The information on my child is up to date and accurate and I know I can always contact the school if I have a cause for concern. It’s just a real relief not to have to wait for months to hear about how your child’s been doing and come away thinking ‘if only I had known a bit sooner!.. Brilliant!"
(Year 7 parent)
“The Parent Portal is the best idea I have seen in ages. Governing a school where you know that parents are kept informed and up to date is really positive.”
(School Governor)
“It was a bit weird at first, the fact that your mum and dad could find out about you at anytime, day or night. I’ve got used to it now and it is pretty cool. My mates from other schools don’t believe me when I tell them about it.”
(Yr 8 boy)
“The Parent Portal is revolutionising our relationship with parents. It’s not just what is on the portal but the fact that parents know they matter enough for us to have gone to this trouble to set it up. Parents and carers are incredibly positive about it and many have said they take much more interest in our website – and what is going on at school – as a result of regularly logging on.”
(Head of Year)
“Working with vulnerable children means getting to know parents very well indeed. Nothing will replace frequent meetings to discuss their child’s welfare. Nevertheless, the fact that parents have an early warning – or an early bit of good news – means an awful lot to them.”
